Our story
How we got here
Movement Church began as a family of faith. The pastor’s children formed the worship team. There was no band and no production — mostly family and close friends, and a simple commitment to love God and love people.
That commitment showed up in what we did with our hands: the Waterfalls bathhouse restoration, the community hall revamp, the community sports courts, the Christmas lights in Parktown. Serving people, building community, making disciples.
There have been seasons of growth and seasons of challenge. Many have been sent from here into God’s purposes around the world. The mission has not changed: go, teach, baptise — and go again.

What we hold to
Four commitments, in the church’s own words. If you are deciding whether this is your kind of church, these are the things to weigh.
- Serving people
- We reach people where they are through love in action. We build relationships, serve our communities, and invite them to experience Jesus.
- Making disciples
- We disciple people through God’s Word. We mentor, train, and equip them to grow in faith and fulfil their God-given purpose.
- Building community
- We welcome people into the family of God. We establish them in covenant community and empower them to live, serve and lead with us.
- Going again
- The mission continues. Every cycle creates a stronger church, every disciple becomes a disciple-maker, and every member becomes part of the mission.

Five colours, one story
The ribbon in our logo is not decoration. Each colour is something we mean.
- Purple
- The Kingdom of God that governs everything we do.
- Yellow
- The light of Christ shining into communities through action and service.
- Pink
- The love of Jesus expressed through genuine relationships and community.
- Green
- Discipleship, spiritual maturity, and a life continually transformed by Christ.
- Blue
- The Gospel message carried beyond our walls into the world.

Who teaches and leads
Any of them will meet you for coffee if you want to ask something hard.
Jonathan McDonald
Teaches most Sunday mornings and leads the Legacy Family series. Oversees the teaching and discipleship track.
Jackin Lungiwedu
Teaches on marriage, singleness and the household. Available for pre-marital and family counselling.
Meyer Brown
Leads the Royal Priest of God studies and trains the small-group teachers.
